Operations Manager | Factory & 2 Hubs
Your role
Due to the growth of our in-house services, we are looking for an Operations Manager. In this new role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our GDS production facility in Warmond and our two logistics hubs in Heteren and Almere, where GDS and local fill operations are combined. In total, you will manage around 70 staff members via the team leaders.
You will act as the link between the Director of Operations & Logistics and the team leaders at the various sites. You will ensure that processes are carried out in the same way at all sites, focus on performance and quality, and support the team leaders with operational issues.
You are regularly present at all three sites and know exactly what is going on. In doing so, you look beyond day-to-day operations and make an active contribution to the continuous improvement of our services.
You will work alternately at the factory and the two hubs. In principle, the schedule is two days a week in Warmond, one day in Almere and one day in Heteren. You plan your fifth working day yourself, depending on where your presence is most needed that week. This allows you to stay in touch with operations at all sites and respond flexibly to the organisation’s needs.
What will you be doing?
- You will manage the team leaders at the factory and both hubs and support them in their day-to-day work. In total, you will manage around 70 staff members.
- You will monitor the sites’ performance in terms of quality, productivity, service levels and staff deployment.
- You will be the point of contact for operational issues and escalations that go beyond local responsibility.
- You will ensure a consistent approach and monitor the quality and continuity of processes across all sites.
- You will oversee the implementation of new working methods and processes at the factory and the hubs.
- You will identify opportunities for improvement and provide input for further process optimisation.
- You will liaise with affiliated pharmacies and institutions on operational matters.
- You will report periodically on KPIs, including quality, delivery reliability, errors, shortages, waste and service levels.
What do you bring to the role?
You are a decisive leader who can easily switch between different sites and teams. You know how to bring people together, maintain an overview and are able to make the right decisions based on data and KPIs.
In addition, you have:
- HBO (higher professional education) level of working and thinking.
- At least 5 years’ work experience, including several years in a managerial role, within an operational, production or logistics environment.
- Experience of managing multiple teams or sites and leading larger groups of staff (approximately 70 FTE).
- Experience of managing based on KPIs and operational performance.
- An affinity for process improvement and the implementation of new working methods.
- Willingness to be present weekly at the sites in Heteren, Almere and Warmond.
- Good command of the Dutch language.
- Category B driving licence.
Experience within the pharmaceutical sector, pharmacies, GDS or another regulated logistics environment is an advantage. Experience with quality guidelines such as GDP or GMP and data-driven working is also a plus.
What do we offer?
A challenging management role within a rapidly developing organisation. You will be given a great deal of responsibility and the freedom to further professionalise the operations of our GDS production plant and two logistics hubs.
In addition, we offer:
- An independent role with a high level of responsibility.
- An organisation where quality, collaboration and continuous improvement are central.
- Plenty of scope for initiative and process improvement.
- Competitive terms of employment.
- A company car including a fuel card.
- A laptop and mobile phone.
- A 40-hour working week.
- Bases in Heteren, Almere and Warmond.
